MECHANICAL ENGINEER (EIT) AT CHORLEY AND BISSET CONSULTING ENGINEERS

September 2010 – August 2012 (2 years)

  • Reduced ventilation airflow calculation time by 90% through the creation of an MS Excel-based macro which automated the process.
  • Improved calculation accuracy for the airflow over a pool by 20% through the use of computational fluid dynamics.
  • Leveraged engineering principles to design high quality HVAC and plumbing systems in accordance with codes and regulations using AutoCAD and HAP.

VACUUM AND CRYOGENICS SPECIALIST (CO-OP) AT TRIUMF

September 2008 – December 2008 (4 months)

  • Led the cryogenic pumping test that produced the most accurate performance measurement ever achieved at the time through precise planning, quantitative analysis using MS Excel, and persuading others to volunteer their time for the initiative.
  • Designed and built test apparatuses which produced accurate performance verification for new components and resulted in zero system downtime due to faulty parts.
  • Composed detailed reports that clearly outlined system upgrades and failures.

HARDWARE ENGINEER (CO-OP) AT NCR CORPORATION

January 2008 – April 2008 (4 months)

  • Achieved an “Outstanding” co-op evaluation (top 5% of co-op students).
  • Utilized SolidWorks to design anti-theft mechanisms which were eventually incorporated into all of the 10,000 cheque processing units produced and sold that year.
  • Led two other students in life-cycle testing, failure analysis, and redesign on prototype units that resulted in a 10% improvement in longevity.
  • Reduced jams in the cheque processing module by 20% through the creation of molded plastic components that utilize smooth geometries in areas where cheques were getting delayed.

ENGINEERING COURSEWARE DEVELOPER (CO-OP) AT RAND WORLDWIDE

September 2006 – December 2006 (4 months)

  • Designed CATIA V5 projects for use in the CATIA training program for one of the big three U.S. automobile manufacturers.
  • Used Macromedia Captivate to create a series of instructional AutoCAD animations which were sold directly to customers.

TECHNICAL WRITER – CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT (CO-OP) AT HSBC

January 2006 – April 2006 (4 months)

  • Reduced internal technical support workload on a new product by 25% through creating a comprehensive manual on troubleshooting.
